Response to Brief
My task is to create a 2 minute opening for a film of a genre of my choice that includes titles, credits and sound. I will need to show an understanding of the key ingredients for an opening sequence. This includes researching various elements of opening sequences and using these to plan our final task and then evaluate. I also understand that the sequence must be completely original in all aspects from sound to cinematography etc. Finally, I also understand this will be a group task, attributes such as organisation and teamwork will be needed to make sure we secure top grades in our task. My coursework will make up 50% of my final AS grade:
Research and planning (20% coursework, 10% AS grade)
Construction of Media Product (60% coursework, 30% AS grade)
Electronic evaluation (20% coursework, 10% AS grade)
Introduction
Hi! I am Liam. I am 16 years old and live in the UK. I have picked Media as one of my four AS courses as I have been interested in all forms of media since I was a wee child, whether it be the music industry or television or even the internet I truly love studying and learning about all things media related.
One of my earliest memories relating to media I have is all the way back in 2005 when I stumbled across my mum's DVD collection and found 'Kill Bill' I was absolutely mesmerized, the cover had a badass looking female holding a sword and I knew instantly I had to watch it. I then came to immediately regret that choice after coming to the very fast conclusion that this film was most likely not made for 5 year olds, there was blood and guts everywhere, literally. I felt strangely at home, I was in a new world, a escape from reality, it was an amazing and truly eye-opening experience for me. And from that day forward I fell in love with movies, with the experience, with the camera shots, the directors, the actors, (and Tarantino) anything and everything to do with movies, and as a result I made efforts to watch as much films as I could possibly endure (which I do not recommend on the basis of your own sanity)
As you can tell from that paragraph one of my favourite movies is Kill Bill
Kill Bill doesn't need much of a description, just please watch it, it's so cool
Now, if you were to ask me what my favourite movie was, that will be very difficult for me, mainly because for me to single out a single favourite movie from the hundreds I have watched is an impossible and daunting task for me, but to name a few movies that have given me the same chills as Kill Bill did those many years ago, here's a list (I'll try to do one for as many genres as possible)
1. Sci Fi - Interstellar or The Martian
2. Crime/Thriller - Any Tarantino film (I'm a little biased)
3. Comedy - I can't really think of a favourite comedy, probably something with Robin Williams or Adam Sandler in it
4. Action/Adventure -Dark Knight Rises (Marvel sucks, fight me)
5. Horror - Hush... Now this one needs a bit of an explanation. There's a bunch of horror movies I love but for some reason Hush is so much more realistic and terrifying because it's like the worst scenario ever. There's an intruder who wants to murder you, you're deaf and for some reason live in the middle of the woods (this could get even more worse if you were blind and in a wheelchair, then you're really screwed), I thought initially the movie was going to suck but the directors pulled it off so well and masterfully that I gotta give them props
6. Psychological Thriller - Silence of The Lambs/Inception or Mr Robot (I know that's a TV series but it's so cool I had to include it)
7. Fantasy - Lord of The Rings (obviously)
8. Animated - Either Spirited Away or Tangled (I really like Tangled for some reason)
I hope you found out a little more about me ! bye
